Design creative cotton bags: A DIY project for craft fans
Step 1: Create felt punch motifs
Take felt in your favourite colours and use the Sizzix die-cutting machine to cut out bunny and moon motifs. The Sizzix die-cutting machine is a practical tool that allows you to quickly and precisely cut out a wide variety of shapes from paper, fabric or felt. If you are not yet familiar with the machine: place the felt on the punching template and then between the two mats, feed them through the machine and watch your perfect motifs emerge.
Step 2: Sew on the motifs
Position the punched out felt bunnies and moons on the cotton bag. Use a sewing machine or sew by hand to attach the motifs to the bag using a decorative zigzag stitch. The zigzag stitch not only ensures a firm hold, but also adds visual texture to the design. Make sure that the motifs are well distributed to create a harmonious overall look.
Step 3: Fill and seal the bag
Once the felt motifs are securely sewn on, it's time to fill your bag. This could be anything from small gifts to sweets. Once you have filled your bag, gather the ribbon at the back and knot it securely to secure the contents. Make sure the knot is strong so that your bag stays securely closed.
Step 4: Finishing touches with embellishments
An organza ribbon adds a special touch of glamour: wrap it around the knot or tie a decorative bow. You can attach scatter decorations, such as flowers, to the bag as an additional highlight. These give your bag even more charm and make it unique.
